"Pros
Some of the Pros for the Inspiron 1420 are the easy set up right out of the box. Also with 2.3 qhz intel core 2 duo processor, 320 g hard drive, and 4 gbs of RAM. This computer is really fast. Makes multitasking really easy and as quick as desired.

Cons
How long the standard shipping for this laptop takes to arrive to your home.

Additional Thoughts
Although every upgrade i have told you about it a little expensive ($1400 for mine, total $2000 for everything). It is totally worth the money."

Had it for a year and a half and it can handle anything. 2gb, 320gb HD, Vista, 2 ghz Core 2 Duo, great card reader, USB, and Firewire built-in.

Cons
None.

Additional Thoughts
I hope Dell never stops making products like the 1420 or the 1525. My experience was so good, I recommended it to my family members and they bought two. By far the best and most reliable computing experience I've had. "

The build quality of this laptop is top-notch. The 14" screen is the perfect size and makes the unit really portable. The fans are quiet and I haven't noticed any heat problems while using it. I've been completely satisfied with this purchase.

Cons
The unit seems to freeze every time I plug in headphones for some reason. It's probably a driver issue"

"Pros
Good value for the money. Hardware is reliable. Construction is relatively rugged. Video card works excellently with vista. Battery life = 3+ hours. Very quiet.

Cons
Runs poorly on 2 gigs of RAM. Most of the problem I've had are associated with Vista, not with dell hardware.

Additional Thoughts
I purchased my 1420 a year and a half ago, when it first came out. I can speak for it's longevity. Purchasing 4 gigs of ram is cheap and install is easy on 1420. I have had problems, but they have been minor, and usually related to the operating system. Purchasing some windows utility software that can repair registry problems is an easy solution to this. I operate mine on battery quite often, and the 9 cell battery still gives me over 3 hours of use. As far as durability, I've never had a better system. I've even spilled milk on the LCD, and it is still functioning perfectly today. I'm looking forward to Dell's next generation 14" Laptop. "
